Free Birds produce top-quality, sustainable poaching eggs

The Free Birds on our farms are happy roaming in ranges, scratching, stretching and socialising which is our secret ingredient for the best tasting eggs we provide.
That’s a lot of space to play in with no more than 1500 hens per hectare! The Free Birds live a happy and fruitful life while laying the best eggs – and that’s where we come in.
But what makes them the best poaching eggs?
Our fresh free-range eggs are specially selected from young hens to provide you eggs with firmer whites, which is one of the secrets to improved poaching results.
Of course, how you cook them also plays a part, so we have an easy method that we recommend following for delicious poached eggs at home, with no whirlpools or fancy gadgets required.

Available in Coles stores in NSW.

Free Birds’ Poaching Method

  1. Fill a pan with enough water to cover an egg with about three cm of water.
  2. Bring water to a simmer where large bubbles are slowly and consistently appearing.
  3. Gently crack an egg into a small cup and slowly pour it into a pan at water level.
  4. Simmer egg undisturbed in water for about 2:00 – 2:30 min for a soft yolk or until desired firmness has been reached.
  5. Using a slotted spoon, gently lift the egg from the water, allow it to drain momentarily and gently slide it off spoon onto your meal.

Just remember to make sure you store these eggs in the fridge to maintain freshness.
