What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?

Accredited Exercise Physiologists  (AEPs) hold a university degree and a masters qualification that specialises in clinical exercise interventions for persons at high risk of developing, or with existing chronic and complex medical conditions and injuries. AEPs provide support for clients with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, mental health problems, cancer, arthritis, pulmonary disease and more. AEPs are eligible to register with Medicare Australia, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, TAC, WorkSafe, and WorkCover and are recognised by most private health insurers.

These interventions are provided by exercise delivery including health and physical activity education, advice and support; and lifestyle modification with a strong focus on achieving behavioural change.

AEPs are recognised allied health professionals and are specialists in their field, displaying a diverse range of knowledge and skills, working across a variety of areas in health, exercise, and sport.

Exercise Physiology at Unified Fitness

Here at Unified Fitness, we believe in proactive health management. We prefer where possible to prevent the many injuries, ailments, and afflictions that many of us face in modern times before we find ourselves in the chronic stage.  Prolonged bouts of sitting at a desk, too much couch time, a car accident or a sporting injury can all lead to ongoing issues….

At Unified we feel the most constructive approach is to have an expert design and oversee a specific and individualised program earmarked for getting you moving effectively and efficiently.…

Regardless of your profile of needs, our EP’s have the capacity and educational platform to aid you towards improving your quality of life by assisting you to realise and reach your optimal physical function. An EP can provide you with exercise options and solutions to cater for improvements in any and every area your general and overall health; some of which include increased mobility, flexibility, bone density, cardiovascular capacity, weight loss/management, muscular endurance, and strength.

Exercise Physiology Session Types

Initial Assessment

Objective assessment may include a range of motion testing, muscular strength and endurance, exercise screening and cardiovascular testing. Taking these into consideration and via the method of goal setting, the AEP prepares an appropriate and client specific treatment plan that match their needs.
